The manufacturer uses Kraft paper or BOPP backing film to protect and hold the adhesive. For BOPP clear tape, the adhesive is transparent, however, for BOPP colored tape, the transparent adhesive will be added with certain colors following the customer’s demands. 

 

The adhesive is the basic part of BOPP clear tape which offers high adhesion for item-bonding application. Typically, the adhesive will be made of acrylate copolymer or hydrogenated rosin.

PRODUCTION PROCESS OF BOPP CLEAR TAPE

In the first process, the adhesive is mixed with an organic solvent. As an organic solvent that evaporates very quickly, the adhesive is applied very thinly to the backing with the solvent by being pressed through a very narrow slit. 

Next, the coated backing passes through a drying tunnel and the solvent evaporates in it. The solvent will vaporize while the adhesive coating on the backing will be dry.

 

In the third process, the adhesive turns liquid by heating it before being produced. This adhesive is also then applied evenly to the backing through a very thin slit.

Finally, we have a completed adhesive and then this adhesive is applied very thinly on the desired backing materials.
